Mazsihisz: What happened in The Hague is a mockery of law and justice

The Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary (Mazsihisz) considers the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant to be a mockery of law and a violation of justice.

Mazsihisz agrees with Israeli head of state Yitzhak Herzog, who called the ICC's decision outrageous and in bad faith.

In this spirit, we remind the public that the Hague-based body was established more than 20 years ago with the aim of ensuring that those responsible for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes receive their just punishment. But neither the prime minister of the Jewish State nor its former defense minister fall into any of these criminal categories. Under the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers fought to defend the State of Israel in the wake of the Hamas terrorist organization’s inhuman attack on 7 October last year.

Today, as the world is witnessing a wave of anti-Semitism unprecedented since the Holocaust, Mazsihisz believes that should any country enforce the Hague ruling, the consequences for the existence of the State of Israel and the security of the Jewish diaspora could be incalculably grave. If indeed those who have acted in defense of the Jewish State against terrorists are arrested, the enemies of Judaism and Israel will conclude that the justice system of the Western world has sided with the terrorists.

Every diplomatic effort must be made to prevent the execution of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
